Work Experience
We provide and support students in a range of placements in the local community.
Work Experience placements enable Ruru Specialist School students to experience the world of work by offering opportunities both from within and outside of School. There are both formal and informal types of Work Experience at Ruru Specialist School e.g., Work Experience and/or Community Work Experience/ R.A.O.K.
- Work experience placements offer students the opportunity to enhance existing knowledge or to learn new skills in a job that the student is interested in learning more about.
- Any placement considers the learning goals and abilities of the student.
- Work experience incorporated into ICP goals.
The work experience itself can provide students with opportunities to develop community links, increase their confidence, self-esteem, independence and build on interpersonal skills in a safe environment.
